In Thai culture, the Asian elephant (Chang Thai) is a symbol of strength, royalty, and cultural heritage. For centuries, elephants have appeared throughout the country's history and folklore.
Today, a more thoughtful approach to tourism lets visitors meet these gentle giants while putting their welfare first. Phuket Siray Elephant Care Camp brings animal care and cultural appreciation together without elephant riding or shows.
An elephant sanctuary near Phuket Old Town
The camp sits on peaceful Koh Siray, about 15 minutes east of Phuket Old Town. It is also a quiet coastal escape for visitors travelling from Patong and other parts of the island. Here, elephants have room to move, socialize, and rest beside the sea.
Hands-on feeding and respectful care
In the Feed & Care program, meet the elephants and offer food while learning about their diet and personalities. The longer beach program also includes preparing herbal vitamin balls, a walk alongside the elephants, and time with their caretakers.
At the private beach, watch the elephants cool off and splash in the sea. Guests on the beach program can join the guided shoreline and shower activities when appropriate for the elephants.
